Smocked Bonnets for Baby

November 12th, 2008 by Julie

An Heirloom for Your Precious Baby.  A Treasure to Pass On to Future Generations.

The talented creator of this bonnet is Melda from New Brunswick, Canada. Melda enjoys all types of handwork, but her favorite is smocking.

Melda makes her bonnets from white Imperial Batiste which is a cotton and polycotton blend.  Imperial batiste washes beautifully and is used mostly in heirloom garments for its durability.  The bonnets are smocked with DMC embroidery floss.....adorned with handmade bullion roses and embellished with seed pearls.

This is your chance to order a custom made bonnet.  You can pick the size and the colors. These bonnets can be made in sizes:  0 to 3 months, 6 to 12 months or toddler size.

Mela wants you to feel free to contact her through Ebay  with any questions you may have.  She has 100% positive feedback from her customers. Take a look at a few samples of her bonnets that have been very popular.

It is a fact, when it comes to handmade items, like these bonnets, they might not be available later. There is no big factory turning them out. They are made, one at a time by one artist. We are fortunate that she has them for sale right now.

Pink Gingham Smocked Dress

The dress above with the matching bow is an example of the fine quality children's clothing you will find at The Southern Baby, a quality eBay store with 100% positive feedback from happy customers who buy over and over again for the special occasions that come every year.

This dress pictured above is created by Anavini; it is from the Velani Classics.

It has short sleeves with 2 buttons at the back. The fabric is a brushed 100% cotton, like a flannel, pink check.

The smocked design in vivid color is of a little girl with pigtails driving a green and yellow (John Deere?) tractor. There are corn stalks and  hay stacks on each side of her .   Notice in the picture below how the design goes over the shoulder and around the back...so sweet.

The The Southern Baby has a wonderful selection of lovely smocked outfits, many with custom made hair bows.  It is a gem of a store that you won't want to miss!

Little Boys Love Smocked Clothes

September 25th, 2008 by Julie

Maybe little boys don't care about dressing up

as much as little girls, but if you choose clothing that has a picture smocked of something your child loves, then it is bound to be a hit and likely, he will prefer to wear it over anything else!

Anavini is one of those brands that you can depend on to be top quality.  I came across this precious picture of a smocked tractor pulling a hay wagon.  This is an  Anavini jon jon for a little boy.

My little boys loved tractors- anything with a motor was a "mo mo" to them.  How they would have loved to wear this! Now they are more inclined to love motorcycles and 4 wheelers.  Read the rest of this entry »

Clothing the Kids in Style

July 28th, 2008 by Julie

As a mother of five, I am interested in finding beautiful and functional clothing for children- both for special occasions and for everyday wear. I like to find ideas for clothing that I can make myself.  Many times the patterns and ideas are beyond my skill, but I like looking at them in appreciation (and for inspiration) anyway.  Clothing can truly be a work of art...thus my site's name-Artistic Children's Clothing.  I hope to share some of these ideas for children's clothing with those of you who stumble upon this blog. Welcome!!

As much as I would like  to make most of my children's special clothes, practically speaking, there is never enough time.  So when I buy, I like to find children's clothing that is similar to what I would like to make if I could. Artistic Children's Clothing Store offers name-brand smocked clothing for children at prices that we can (usually) afford.
