The Origin of Bailey Boys

Who is the artist entrepreneur behind the Bailey Boys company? The answer is Diane Bailey.  A southern girl, Diane earned a BS in home economics at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.. She married her college sweetheart and was blessed with two little sons. She found it very difficult to find clothes that would fit her boys with the look that she loved, so she began designing outfits which she called Jon-Jons.

It seems that all designers and inventors start with a passion.  So it was for Diane Bailey who as a little girl spent most of her free time drawing and creating. When in high school and  college, she designed and constructed clothes for herself. She enjoyed the admiration of her friends who appreciated her talents in clothing design.

Later she turned her ideas into creating clothing for her own children. It was Diane’s husband who convinced her to begin selling her designs on a large scale. She named her company The Bailey Boys, Inc. and in 1987, it started with only five sewing machines in a small one-room workshop, designing and sewing outfits for little boys. Since then, The Bailey Boys, inc. has grown by leaps and bounds. Baxley, GA  can boast of a 22,000-square foot Bailey Boys facility and Saint Simons Island, GA. claims to be home of the Bailey Boys corporate headquarters. Children’s Boutique retailers across the country sell Diane’s Bailey Boy clothes.
